The Carteret County Public School System serves the students of Carteret County, a county located on the beautiful Crystal Coast of eastern North Carolina. New Superintendent Announced

The Carteret County Board of Education hired Dr. Rob Jackson as the school system’s new superintendent. The action took place at the Board’s June 2, 2020, meeting.
Dr. Jackson is currently the superintendent of the Edenton-Chowan School System. He will begin his duties in Carteret County on July 1.
A native of North Carolina, Dr. Jackson career in public education has spanned more than 25 years in the state, including serving six years as a superintendent.  For the last six years, since 2014, he has been the superintendent of the Edenton-Chowan Schools.
Prior to assuming his current position, Dr. Jackson served in Union County Public Schools for twelve years, spending a combined ten years as a high school and elementary principal in three schools in the Union County Public Schools system.
Dr. Jackson spent his final two years in Union County as the school system’s Chief Communications Officer. He previously served as an elementary teacher in Buncombe County Schools.  Dr. Jackson began his career in public education as a school secretary and summer school custodian in Buncombe County.
Dr. Jackson has an impressive academic background as well.  After being honorably discharged from the US Navy, he earned an Associate’s Degree from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College before transferring to Western Carolina University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and his Master’s Degree in School Administration. He went on to earn an Educational Specialist Degree and a Doctorate of Education from Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina.

Ever wonder what your child is doing in school?  How did he do on that test at school today?  Was she counted present today?

Well you can access this information and much more with the PowerSchool Mobile App.  You can signup for all of your children under one account.  You can also receive real-time push updates anytime a grade or attendance is updated.  Check out the PowerSchool Mobile site for more information.  This is available for Apple and Android devices.

You can also access the same information through your computer, by accessing https://carteret.powerschool.com/public/

If you have never setup a parent account, there are just a few security steps to verify parental status and get you access:

1.  Complete the Parental Request Form for Access and send in with your child or deliver to your school office. (One is needed for each child, if at different schools.) 

2.  Stop by the school and show your state-issued picture ID.  (You must be a parent or legal guardian to receive access.)

3.  Your school will issue you a sheet similar to the one linked HERE.

4.  Go to a computer with internet access and complete the Parent Portal Instructions.
